Saturday Song

Each Saturday – hopefully each Saturday, I will post a “Saturday Song.” May this music lead you to places of prayer, peace and hope.

For our first Saturday Song, I present one of the most beautiful sung versions of the 23rd Psalm, Shepherd Me, O God, which is written by Marty Haugen. If you have ever been to a funeral here at The Church of the Immaculate Conception you have heard this. It is so beautiful and a reminder of God’s constant invitation out of fear and into hope.

As a quick aside, I think that it is also essential to remember that the communities for whom all the Scriptures were written for, thought of shepherds as real outcasts. The reminder that God draws us from the edges to the center is always present.  God comes to us in the most unlikely ways, the most unlikely places, arms extended in a gathering motion, either as our good shepherd or as Christ, crucified.
